Chemistry of Alopecia

Hair loss is influenced by various factors, impacting both the hair's structure and chemistry. Structurally, hair follicles miniaturize, leading to thinner and less pigmented hair. Chemically Dihydrotestosterone, DHT plays a role, especially in Androgenetic Alopecia, causing follicles to shrink. This hormone can also disrupt the hair growth cycle. Other elements, like stress or medical issues, can weaken hair proteins, increasing breakage. External factors such as UV radiation and pollutants further compromise hair health.
